95  YEARS  AGO MARCH  1,  1928 Approximately $164,000 is being spent this year on state roads in Cleveland County, with most of the work being done in the vicinity of Pansy. The concrete-surfaced road north from Warren to the Saline River bridge near the county line, which will connect with the Pansy-South road, has been completed and is a part of the Warren-Pine Bluff road traversing the eastern part of the county. The motion picture, "The Transgressor," was shown at the Methodist church at Kingsland last Wednesday night, under direction of the Anti-Saloon League. 90  YEARS  AGO MARCH  1,  1933 Distribution of garden seed to needy families of Cleveland County was started today by the Cleveland County Emergency Relief Commission. The seed arrived here Saturday and a crew of workmen have been engaged in sacking and sorting them since. Sufficient seed has been bought by the commission to supply approximately 1,500 families of average size. An unusual amount of rainfall over the county and state during the past week has hindered farming operations and caused much damage to roads. Many portions of county roads in this county are practically impassable for motorists and state highways are also in bad condition. 80  YEARS  AGO MARCH  3,  1943 Mr. and Mrs. Bailey Reed have opened a cafe in the Smith Service Station building on Main Street here. They will also operate the station. Twelve men for military service are ordered to report late this week. Eight men of the county reported for service early this week.
