10 YEARS AGO APRIL 29, 2015 Partners working with the Breakthrough Solutions community development program are expected to present some of their ideas for local development programs tomorrow night, when Kickstart Cleveland County meets here. There will be a tour during the day, including stops around the Rison, Kingsland and New Edinburg areas. All three of the communities now have grassroots groups set up to pursue community development projects. A community center that would also house a small museum is the idea that has come out of Kickstart Kingsland. New Edinburg just recently joined Kingsland and Rison in forming its own grassroots committee devoted to community development within New Edinburg and the surrounding area.A ceremony was held Monday evening at the Woodlawn High School baseball field to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the start of the baseball program at the school. Commemorative baseballs were presented to the 50 alums who attended the ceremony.20 YEARS AGO APRIL 27, 2005 Arkansas Attorney General Mike Beebe, considered to be the favorite to gain the Democratic nomination for governor in 2006, was the keynote speaker last Thursday at what was Kingsland High School's final Honor Banquet.30 YEARS AGO APRIL 26, 1995 Fourth District Congressman Jay Dickey addressed students and teachers when he visited Kingsland School on Monday as part of 'Recess Day,' a nation-wide effort to bring policy-making into urban and rural classrooms across the country.U.S. Senator David Pryor of Arkansas announced that he will not seek a fourth term during next year's election.Over 100 people attended the Cleveland County Cattlemen's Association annual Spring Jackpot Show at the fairgrounds here.
