Library Hosts Animology Program

RISON - As part of its summer series of activities, the Cleveland County Library welcomed Mary Beth Gunter Monday afternoon to share her Animology program with young children.

Woodlawn Students Art Featured in YAA Exhibit

Macie Marcantel (first grade), Ella Burris (fourth grade) and Aiden Womack (sixth grade), all students at Woodlawn Elementary, were featured in the annual Young Arkansas Artists Exhibition at the Arkansas Museum of Fine Arts in Little Rock. Each student won honorable mention for their grade level.

RISON - A worker with MTS Contracting of Kansas City, Mo., works on repairing mortar between the bricks of the nearly 112-year-old Cleveland County Courthouse in Rison Tuesday afternoon.
WOODWORKING AT THE PIONEER VILLAGE - Last week, the Cleveland County Extension Service hosted another wood workshop at Rison’s Pioneer Village. The Extension Agents would like to thank to Mr. Keith Gresham for instructing, and Billy and Marty Bowlin for helping. Thanks also to Pioneer Village for use of their facilities and to Hixson Lumber Company for donating the wood. Five students worked hard and had fun doing it. Pictured are Donna Best, Debbie James, Kay Richardson and Sarah Payton.

Private first class Marquis Yarnell of Rison (left) was recently promoted to Specialist, earning the rank of E4, in the Arkansas National Guard. He enjoys his military occupational service of carpentry and masonry as part of a support unit at Fort Chaffey.
