Bears Hammer Pirates; Fall at Ouachita

WOODLAWN - A 12-run second inning powered the Woodlawn Bears to a 16-0 win over the Drew Central Pirates in a non-conference game Monday afternoon at Woodlawn. The game ended in the bottom of the fourth by the 15-run rule.The Bears sent 18 batters to the plate in the second inning. Tyner Burris had two hits in the frame while Ty Motes had a double and Ethan Saeler had a single. Overall, Woodlawn had seven batters draw walks, three that were hit by pitches and one error to help generate the dozen runs.The Bears tacked on four more in the fourth to invoke the 15-run rule as Parker Arnold delivered a two-run double followed by a two-run single from Hollis Holderfield.The Bears finished with nine hits. Burris had two while Cash Hargis, Arnold, Holderfield, Logan Clark, Saeler, Motes and Tyler French accounted for the others.French and Burris combined to hold the Pirates to two hits. French got the start and the win after giving up two hits with four strikeouts. Burris threw the fourth without giving up a hit and had two strikeouts.
