CROSSETT - Rison rallied from a four-run deficit to tie the game in the fifth but the Class 4A Crossett Eagles answered with two runs in the bottom of the sixth to pull out a 6-4 victory Tuesday afternoon at Crossett.The Eagles used a couple of hits in the bottom of the first to go up 1-0 before scoring off a passed ball and fielder's choice in the third to make it 3-0. An RBI double in the fourth pushed the Crossett lead to a 4-0.Rison answered with four runs in the top of the fifth.Aaron Tilley started it with single before Lawson Kidd and Noah Matheson drew walks to load the bases with no outs. After a fly ball for the first out, Andrew Couture drove in the Wildcats' first run with a hit, and Ayden Laws followed with a double that brought two more home to cut it to 4-3. James Jacobs then had a sacrifice fly to center to score Couture and tie the game, 4-4.In the bottom of the sixth, the 'Cats retired the first two batters to the plate before a double by the Eagles kept the inning alive. Crossett then scored on an error to regain the lead, and after another error, stole home for one more score to make it 6-4.Rison threatened in the top of the seventh when Couture drew a one-out walk and Jacobs followed with a single one out later to put runners at first and second. However, the next batter flied out to end the game.The Wildcats used four pitchers against the Eagles. Matthew Weaver went the first innings, giving up three hits without a walk or strikeout. Couture did not give up a hit and walked two over the next one-and-a-third innings. Kidd followed him for an inning, giving up four hits and one walk while CJ Edwards finished out the final three frames allowing one hit, no walks and striking out three.Laws went 2-for-4 to lead Rison at the plate.
