Lady 'Cats Rally From 14 Down, Put PC Holds On

PARKERS CHAPEL - The Rison Lady Wildcts rallied from 14 down in the second half to tie the game with less that 2 minutes to go, but the Parkers Chapel Lady Trojans were able to regroup late for 46-39 victory in a key 8-2A conference battle last Friday night at Parkers Chapel. Rison Coach Seth Taylor said his Lady 'Cats struggled to get much going in the first half, down 4-2 at the end of the opening period before going into halftime trailing 20-14. "Early foul trouble stopped us from really playing the way we wanted in first half," he said. The Lady Trojans' lead swelled to as many as 14 points in the second half before the Lady 'Cats finally found their offense. "We made a huge run after we finally started to score," Taylor said. "We were able to pressure like we wanted." Rison rallied to pull even with PC, 39-39, with 1:39 left in the game. However, Taylor said the Lady Wildcats just could not get over the hump to take the lead. "We just couldn't connect on two attempts to take the lead," he said. "The game was closer than the final score as they scored twice, really, without needing to as time expired." Taylor said the Lady 'Cats led in all categories except for free throws attempted and made. Rison's Destiny Lea, despite sitting the majority of the first half in foul trouble, managed a double-double by scoring 10 points and grabbing 11 boards. Sophomore Layne Potter had 13 points and eight rebounds against the Lady Trojans while Shermyah Bracey finished with 10 points and four assists. The loss snapped a six-game win streak by Rison and dropped the Lady 'Cats to 8-4 overall and 1-1 in conference play. Parkers Chapel improved to 7-3 overall and 3-0 in league play. Taylor said he was pleased with the performance overall, especially considering that his Lady 'Cats were able to rally from 14 down on the road against a team that is expected to contend for the 8-2A title. ...
