AIR BEARS - Woodlawn’s Payton Leveritt pulls down an 18-yard pass from Jaxson Martin during second quarter action Friday night at Marvell. The Bears, who usually rely on their run game, saw some success through the air against the Mustangs as Martin completed 7-of-10 pass attempts for 121 yards.

OFF TO THE RACES - Rison quarterback Blaine Dixon busts through the line of scrimmage on his way to a 64-yard touchdown run late in the fourth quarter to help put away the scrappy Lake Village Beavers. Dixon had an outstanding night in all three phases of the game. On offense, he rushed for 163 yards, the most by a Wildcat quarterback in more than 50 years, while completing his only pass of the game for an 83-yard touchdown.On special teams, he blocked a point-after attempt while successfully kicking three

HALE TURNS IN BIG GAME - Woodlawn senior Fisher Hale (left, no. 25) picks up a first down for the Bears during first half action Friday night in Woodlawn’s showdown with top-ranked Mountain Pine. Hale, a two-way starter, had one of his best overall performances of his career, rushing for a team-high 112 yards on 13 carries with a touchdown, and recording 10 tackles and an interception from his linebacker position on defense. Trailing on the play for the Bears is lineman Steven Adair.

WAINWRIGHT PUTS RISON BACK ON TOP - With his teammates already celebrating in the background, Rison’s Treyvion Wainwright (foreground) lunges across the goal line to put the Wildcats back on top, 24-16, with 4:41 left in game. Wainwright had an outstanding game overall, recording six tackles and five pass break-ups on defense and then intercepting and returning a lateral on Fordyce’s last-ditch kickoff return for a touchdown.
