County Buys Additional Road Equipment

RISON - County Judge Jimmy Cummings informed the Cleveland County Quorum Court during its regular monthly meeting Monday night that the county has invested in some new equipment for the road department that should speed up some of the road work carried out by the county.

USDA Commodities Distribution Is Canceled for Saturday

KINGSLAND - The Open Door Community Pantry in Kingsland has announced that it is canceling its regular USDA commodities distribution scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 11, due to the expected winter weather.Open Door Pantry usually distributes commodities on the second Saturday of each month.

Frank Wilson of Staves Among Inductees for Agri Hall of Fame

LITTLE ROCK - Frank Wilson of the Staves community is among six inductees will be added to the Arkansas Agriculture Hall of Fame, reflective of industry-changing work in aquaculture, forestry, rice, poultry and cattle as well as the University of Arkansas Division of Agriculture.

Hop on Pop Blood Drive, Rison Shine BBQ Jan. 7

RISON - The Hop on Pop Memorial Blood Drive will host a drive in Rison Tuesday, Jan. 7 from 2 to 6 p.m. at Rison Baptist Church, organizer Stacy Walz has announced.The drive is held through Our Blood Institute. Walk-ins are welcome, but appointments are encouraged by visiting obi.

Conservation Districy Offering $1,000 Local Scholarship

RISON - The Cleveland County Conservation District is offering a $1,000 scholarship for a local high school student. As well as receiving the District Scholarship, the winner will be eligible to compete at both the area and state level.
