RISON - The Pioneer Village and Rison Shine are looking to bring back the Haunted Village this fall. An interest meeting has been set for 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 8 at the Veterans Building in Rison.

RISON - Green House Cottages of Southern Hills will host a Back To School Bash for kids in grades Kindergarten through 6th grade, Tuesday, Aug. 6 from 4 to 6 p.m. during Rison Elementary’s Open House.The Cottages will give away hot dogs and drinks, and have drawings for prizes. 

Locals Earn Degrees from ASU

JONESBORO – Arkansas State University has announced the list of students who completed degree requirements to graduate at Spring Commencement at First National Bank Arena. The list includes graduates from 46 states and territories and 22 other countries.

Mt. Olivet To Host Food Bank Aug. 10

CALMER - Mount Olivet Methodist Church at Calmer will have its Food Bank from 7 to 9 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 10, the church has announced. Mount Olivet is located at the Hwy. 63/Hwy. 114 junction at Calmer. The food bank is held the second Saturday of each month.

RISON - New Life Missionary Baptist Church will host a 29th Pastoral Anniversary Celebration honoring Pastor Bobby Young and First Lady Marilyn Young.The celebration, with guest speaker Elder Shelvie Henry, will be held this Sunday, Aug. 4 at 11:15 a.m. at 101 Niven Rd.

Sheriff’s Office Will Start Giving Tickets To Four-Wheelers

RISON - The Cleveland County Sheriff’s Department has announced it will be cracking down on four-wheelers using city streets in Rison.Chief Deputy Gary Young said the sheriff’s office has received numerous complaints concerning four wheelers being ridden on city streets.

Land of Legends Travel Association Meets in Rison

RISON - The Arkansas Land of Legends Travel Association brought its annual meeting to Rison's Pioneer Village last week. The travel association promotes Cleveland, Grant, Jefferson and Lincoln Counties.

Historical Society Seeks Donations For Johnny Cash Display

RISON - The Cleveland County Historical Society (CCHS) is currently in the process of bringing the suit that Johnny Cash wore during his 1976 Bicentennial concert at the Rison High School football field back to the Cleveland County Courthouse for permanent display.
