Kingsland Class of 1961 Then and Now

KINGSLAND - One of the classes with the best attendance at Saturday’s Kingsland All School Reunion was the Class of 1961 with nine the 14 class members present. These two photos represent the members now compared to when they were in 8th grade at Kingsland School.

RISON - The Hop on Pop Blood Drive will bring a BloodMobile to the Green House Cottages of Southern Hills Thursday, March 7 from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., organizer Stacy Walz has announced.The drive has a goal of 15 donors at this stop.

RISON - Rison Shine has announced the return of the Rison BBQ Cook Off and Pageant, set for Saturday, April 6 in Downtown Rison.Both events were formerly part of Rison in the Fall before interest and participation waned.

RISON - The Cleveland County Fair Association will host its First Sunday Lunch fundraiser, this Sunday, March 3, at the County Fairgrounds.The lunch will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.This month's menu includes spaghetti, chicken spaghetti, salad, bread, tea and dessert.

Woodlawn Elementary Holds Multiplication Bee

WOODLAWN - The Woodlawn Elementary School first annual multiplication bee finals were held Feb. 23. Hannah Watt, fourth grade Math teacher, hosted the event. Third through sixth grade students competed in voluntary classroom rounds. Twenty-seven students advanced to the semi final rounds.

Wildfire Conditions Are High In County

At approximately 4:30 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 24, the Rison Fire Department reported that it was dispatched to a structure fire in the 400 block of East Magnolia. The fire was extinguished, and no injuries were reported. Hwy 35 South Fire Department assisted.
