'Free Tree Friday' This Week at Rison

LITTLE ROCK - Local residents will have an opportunity to pick up some free bare root tree seedlings during the Arkansas Department of Agriculture's "Free Tree Friday" to be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. this Friday, April 18, at the Pioneer Village, 200 Yaney Street in Rison.

Free Colon Cancer Test Kits Available Thursday at Rison

RISON - Patient navigators from the Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) will offer free take-home colorectal cancer screening kits, as well as information and resources from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

RISON - The Pioneer Village at Rison will continue its revival of the Pioneer Crafts Festival this weekend with a Beans & Greens Supper on Friday night followed by the Pioneer Crafts Festival on Saturday.The Beans & Greens Supper begins at 5 p.m. Friday in Building 2 at the Pioneer Village.

RISON - Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church, 7370 Hwy. 356 South near Rison, will be hosting a Happy Resurrection Day Celebration beginning at 10 a.m. this Sunday, April 19.The day with start with a brunch at 10 a.m. followed by a devotional at 10:30 a.m. , a coloring contest at 10:45 a.m.

County Cattlemen Will Meet April 25 at UA-Monticello

MONTICELLO - The Cleveland County Cattleman’s Association will meet on Thursday, April 24, at the UAM Agriculture building in conjunction with Drew County, announced Jason Boyd of CCCMA. The meeting starts at 7 p.m. but come early to view livestock.

WOODLAWN - Annie Davidson, a senior at Woodlawn High School recently entered the Arkansas Junior Duck Stamp Competition.Her art placed as one of the three First Place prizes for the State.  Davidson was recognized with art supplies, a certificate and a First Place Ribbon for her efforts.
