Frank Wilson of Staves Among Inductees for Agri Hall of Fame

LITTLE ROCK - Frank Wilson of the Staves community is among six inductees will be added to the Arkansas Agriculture Hall of Fame, reflective of industry-changing work in aquaculture, forestry, rice, poultry and cattle as well as the University of Arkansas Division of Agriculture.

KINGSLAND - The Open Door Community Pantry located at 650 Hwy. 97 in Kingsland will be handing out USDA commodities from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 11, 2025.Open Door Pantry usually distributes commodities on the second Saturday of each month.

Conservation Districy Offering $1,000 Local Scholarship

RISON - The Cleveland County Conservation District is offering a $1,000 scholarship for a local high school student. As well as receiving the District Scholarship, the winner will be eligible to compete at both the area and state level.

Transfer Station, Courthouse To Be Closed on Jan. 1

RISON - The Cleveland County Courthouse and the Cleveland Solid Waste Transfer Station on Hwy. 79 at Rison will be closed on Wednesday, Jan. 1, in observance of the New Year's Day holiday. Both will return to regular business hours on Thursday, Jan. 2.

KINGSLAND - Kingsland Mayor Sharon Crosby is serving her last day as mayor today (Tuesday, Dec. 31) after the Kingsland City Council reluctantly accepted her letter of resignation during its regular monthly meeting on Dec. 19.
