County Passes Encroachment Law for Roads

RISON - Anyone placing anything along a county-maintained road that obstructs the flow of traffic along that road can now face fines of up to $1,000 after the Cleveland County Quorum Court approved a new ordinance during its regular monthly meeting Monday night.

RISON - Union Pacific's Big Boy No. 4014, the world's largest operating steam locomotive, is scheduled to make a "whistle stop" at the Maple Street railroad crossing in Kingsland at 11:45 a.m. Monday, Sept. 16.

State To Consider Woodlawn Projects

Live Entertainment, Games Scheduled for County Fair

RISON - The annual Cleveland County Fair is underway this week at the fairgrounds in Rison with live performances, bingo and other games beginning Thursday, Sept. 12, before leading up to the Rison Barbeque Cook Off and Cleveland County Fair Pageants on Saturday, Sept. 14.

Cleveland County Fair To Begin Accepting Entries This Tuesday

RISON - The Cleveland County Fair Board encourages the public to enter anything from canned vegetables to artwork in this year's fair - and win a little cash in the process! Entries will be accepted this Tuesday and Wednesday, Sept. 10-11.

Quorum Court Will Meet This Monday

RISON - The Cleveland County Quorum Court voted last month to hold its September meeting at 6 p.m. Monday, Sept. 9, in the Hall-Morgan Veterans Building in Rison.
