Both Districts Will Use 'Banked' Time To Make Up Days

RISON - Both the Cleveland County and Woodlawn School Boards approved "waiver" resolutions Monday night that will allow their respective districts to use classroom time accumulated over the school year to serve as make-up time for the school days that were lost to last month's winter storm.

Cayce Food Bank Saturday in Thornton

THORNTON - Cayce's Charities will have a free Food Give Away Saturday, Feb. 19 from 8:30 to 11 a.m. at Cayce's Food Bank by the Cayce House at 403 South Second Street in Thornton. The food bank is sponsored by Daniel, Candice and Joannie Cayce.

Food Pantry Feb. 17 at Macedonia MBC

RISON - Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church, located on Hwy. 35 South, will open its Food Pantry Saturday, Feb. 17 from 9 to 10:30 a.m. The church holds its food pantry the third Saturday of each month.

Mayor Declares Feb. 11-17 Rison FBLA Week

RISON - Rison Mayor Charles Roberts has proclaimed Feb. 1117 as Rison FBLA Week. 'Just for some insight, FBLA stands for future business leaders of America,' said Roberts.

MAGNOLIA - Southern Arkansas University has announced that 593 students earned a 3.5 GPA or higher for the fall 2023 semester and have been named to its Dean's List, including: Asia C. Cook is a sophomore Pre-Health Biology major from Rison, AR.

Squirrel, Coon Hunt Benefitting Greens To Be Held Feb. 24

RISON - Trey Gerard of Saline River Tree Dogs at Rison will be hosting a benefit squirrel and coon hunt supporting Phil and Becky Green, whose house near Rison was recently destroyed by fire. Both hunts will take place Saturday, Feb. 24. The squirrel hunt will be daylight to 11 a.m.

CONWAY - The University of Central Arkansas congratulates nearly 1,500 students who were named to the fall 2023 Dean's List.

VFW Fish Fry, Blood Drive Feb. 17

PINE BLUFF - The VFW Post 4455 will hold a fish fry fundraiser Saturday, Feb. 17 from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at 1518 East Harding in Pine Bluff. The cost is $15 per plate. The Blood Mobile will also be onsite from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. conducting a blood drive.
