Herald Increasing Single Copy, Subscription Prices

The Cleveland County Herald will be increasing its annual subscription price for the first time in eight years beginning Jan. 1, 2023, publisher Britt Talent has announced. In addition, Talent said single copy prices of the Herald will be increasing to 75 cents per copy beginning Jan. 1, 2023.

Herald Will Not Publish on Dec. 28 For Annual Break

RISON - The Cleveland County Herald will not be publishing the week of Dec. 26-30 due to the newspaper's annual Christmas break, publisher Britt Talent has announced. The newspaper office will be closed Friday, Dec. 23, through Friday, Dec. 30.

Quorum Court Will Have Meeting Jan. 9

RISON - The Cleveland County Quorum Court has moved its January meeting to 6 p.m. Monday, Jan. 9, due to a conflict with the New Year's Day holiday. The meeting will be held at the Hall-Morgan Veterans Building rather than the courtroom inside the courthouse.

Santa Headed To New Edinburg This Weekend

NEW EDINBURG - Santa Claus will be making his annual visit to the New Edinburg Community Center on Friday, Dec. 16 and Saturday, Dec. 17 from 5:30 until 7:30 p.m. The Center is located at 6590 Hwy. 8 in New Edinburg. Come bring your kids to see Santa.

Old Memorial Ornaments Available in Kingsland

KINGSLAND - Kingsland Mayor Sharon Crosby has announced that all of the old lighted Christmas ornaments will be placed outside City Hall this week for people to pick up. Crosby explained the ornaments were purchased years ago in memory of individuals and placed on street poles.

Spears Recognizes Outgoing Officials at Court Meeting

RISON - Presiding over her final regular monthly meeting of the Cleveland County Quorum Court, County Judge Spears recognized members of the county road department during the Dec. 5 meeting. Spears will be completing the unfinished term of her husband, the late Gary Spears, on Dec. 31.

Rison FFA Competes at Pine Tree Event

RISON - Rison FFA members competed in the FFA Pine Tree Sub-Area Leadership Development Event Friday, Dec. 9. The annual contest is held at Drew Central High School. Eighteen Rison FFA members competed in various speaking events.
