Local Land Lines Being Upgraded to Fiber

RISON - Rally Networks, the parent company of Cleveland County Telephone, has announced that it will be upgrading the service lines to all of its telephone customers from old copper lines to new fiber optic lines.

Woodlawn Board Approves Bond Resolution for Projects

WOODLAWN - The Woodlawn School Board approved two resolutions during a special meeting Tuesday night regarding the issuance of bonds related to the construction of the new career education center and other projects, but the exact amount of those bonds is still to be determined.

Kingsland Approves Buying Fire Truck

KINGSLAND - The Kingsland City Council approved a motion to spend up to $55,000 to buy a used fire truck that will serve as a back-up pumper for the Kingsland Volunteer Fire Department.

Sheriff's Department Conducts Drug Take-Back

RISON - The Cleveland County Sheriff's Department recently participated in the Statewide Drug Take-Back Program. The program gives citizens a secure location to dispose of unused medications. Those medications were taken to the department's dispatch center within the County Jail.

Cleveland County Clean-Up is Saturday

RISON - The annual Cleveland County Clean Up will be held Saturday, May 2 across the county from 9 a.m. to noon, sponsored by the Cleveland County Master Gardeners and County Cultivators in partnership with Keep Arkansas Beautiful.Three locations will be set up as meeting points.

Woodlawn Students Featured in Art Exhibition

The annual Southeast Regional Art Educators Exhibition and Competition was held recently at the University of Arkansas at Monticello campus. Over 100 entries competed with Woodlawn students placing in eight of 13 entries.
