Roberts Asks Residents To Support Overpass Sidewalk

RISON - Rison Mayor Charles Roberts is encouraging residents to submit comments to the Arkansas Department of Transportation (ARDOT) asking it to consider building a sidewalk along the Magnolia Street (Hwy. 35) overpass in Rison in its new improvement plan.

County Has No Power Over Poultry Farms

RISON - County Attorney Tiffany Nutt told a resident of the Calmer area that Cleveland County currently has no authority to regulate the location or construction of poultry houses in the county unless it forms a planning and zoning commission to develop such policies.

Dist. 1 State Senate Primary Election Declared for Aug. 18

RISON - Gov. Sarah Sanders has set  Tuesday, Aug. 18, as the special partisan primary election date to decide candidates to fill the District 1 State Senate seat left vacant following the recent resignation of Republican Ben Gilmore.Should a runoff be required, it would be held Tuesday, Sept. 15.

Rison Seeks $500,000 for Sewer System; City to Conduct LMI Survey

RISON - The Rison City Council unanimously approved a resolution Tuesday night giving Mayor Charles Roberts permission to pursue a $500,000 federal grant through Delta Regional Authority (DRA) to rebuild the city’s aging sewer lift stations as well as install new sewer lines.
