Entergy Arkansas Donates $2,500 to Rison Shine for Public Safety Projects

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - Entergy Arkansas recently donated $2,500 to Rison Shine Community Development, Inc., In philanthropic giving to support measures to keep the public safe during events, such as the recently held Rison in the Fall Festival.

Transfer Station New Hours Begin Nov. 10

RISON - Updated hours have been announced at the Cleveland County Solid Waste Transfer Station on Hwy. 79 at Rison.Beginning, Nov. 10, the Transfer Station is open Monday-Thursday 7:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.; Friday 7:30 a.m. - 5 p.m.; and on the first and third Saturdays of the month 7:30 a.m -12 p.m.

Republicans Announce Filing Fees

RISON - The Cleveland County Republican Committee announced the filing period for justice of the peace, constable and committee membership will begin at noon Monday, Nov. 3, and end at noon Wednesday, Nov. 12.The Republican Primary is scheduled on March 3, 2026, and the general election is Nov.

Local Republican Party Invites Questions For January Forum

RISON - The Cleveland County Republican Committee will host a forum for Republican candidates in contested races for local offices. The forum is scheduled for 6 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2026, at Bethel #1 Missionary Baptist Church, 2230 Hwy. 35 North near Rison.

Democrats Set Filing Dates, Fees

RISON - The Democrat Party of Cleveland County will have their candidate filing period Nov. 3-12 for all candidates filing and those that are interested in becoming a member of Democratic County Committee in Cleveland County.On Nov. 3 - Nov 12, 2025 the filing will start at noon on Nov.

Woodlawn Gives Report to Public

WOODLAWN - The Woodlawn School District presented its annual Report to the Public before its regular monthly school board meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 14. Superintendent Dr. Kevin Hancock, Woodlawn High School Principal T.J. Hill and Woodlawn Elementary Principal Zach Meyer each gave presentations.
