County Democrats To Meet Saturday

The Democrat Party of Cleveland County Committee will meet at noon Saturday, Jan. 10, in the Hall-Morgan Veterans Building, 404 Sycamore Street in Rison. Anyone interested in supporting the Democrats is encouraged to attend.

USDA Commodities To Be Distributed Jan. 10 at Kingsland

KINGSLAND - The Open Door Community Pantry located at 650 Hwy. 97 in Kingsland will be handing out USDA commodities from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 10. Open Door Pantry usually distributes commodities on the second Saturday of each month.

Rison's Stuckey Named Class 3A All-State Cheer

RISON - Mallory Stuckey, a senior at Rison High School and RHS Cheer Captain, has been named an Arkansas 3A All-State Cheerleader. She is a two-time NCA All-American Cheerleader and has cheered for the wildcats for six years.

Conservation District Offers Scholarship For Local Students

RISON - The Cleveland County Conservation District is offering a $1,000 scholarship for a local high school student. In addition to the district scholarship, the winner will also be eligible to compete at both the regional and state level.

RISON - The Cleveland County Quorum Court approved resolutions declaring vacancies for the positions held by the late Cleveland County Judge Jimmy Dale Adair and the late District 6 Justice of the Peace Owen Rushing during its regular monthly meeting Monday night in Rison.

Brush Fire at Kingsland

KINGSLAND - The Kingsland Volunteer Fire Department responded to this brush fire that got out of control Sunday afternoon near the corner of First and Oak Streets in Kingsland. Mayor Karen Wiscaver said the fire department managed to keep it from spreading.

Rison Water, Sewer Projects Nearing Final Completion

RISON - The finish line is now in sight as about $8.8 million in water and sewer improvements for the City of Rison are nearing completion.

Water Interruptions Possible Over Next Two Weeks in Rison

RISON - According to Rison Mayor Charles Roberts, water crews will be working on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays for the next two weeks to cap off old water lines and connect new ones, which may result in interruptions of water service to some customers.
