Valentine Will Seek Coroner’s Position

RISON - Cleveland County Coroner Chuck Valentine of Woodlawn has announced his intentions to seek re-election as the county coroner. He will be running as a Republican.Valentine is completing his first four-year term in the office after having served as a deputy coroner before that.

Republican Committee Sets Filing Dates for Election

RISON - The Cleveland County Republican Committee announced the filing period for justice of the peace, constable and committee membership will begin at noon Monday, Nov. 3, and end at noon Wednesday, Nov. 12. The Republican Primary is scheduled on March 3, 2026, and the general election is Nov.

Clarification: Chambliss Electric Earns County Bid

Cleveland County Judge Jimmy Dale Adair reported that the bid for installing the electrical system in the new voting machin storage building was Chambliss Electric of Rison rather than Greg Hyatt as he mentioned during the meeting.

King Reveals School Grades at Meeting

RISON - Superintendent Davy King informed the Cleveland County School Board during its regular monthly meeting Monday night that Rison High School has once again received a "B" on its School Report Card while Rison Elementary received a "C.

Some Head Start Programs May Require Family Co-Pay

RISON - Some families could have to start paying a co-pay for their children to attend some of the programs offered through the Cleveland County Head Start program, director Laura Stanfield told the Cleveland County School Board Monday night.
