The Cleveland County School District will hold the first of three community meetings about its proposed 6-mill tax increase at 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 6, at the New Edinburg Community Center.
Superintendent Davy King said the meetings will provide information and answer questions before the Nov. 18 election. The increase would help fund $13.165 million in bonds for a new gym and other improvements at Rison School, with $10.366 million designated for construction and $2.7 million expected from state partnership funds.
If approved, the district’s total millage would rise from 38.1 to 44.1 mills, lasting 32 years until the debt is paid.
