CCSD To Hold Millage Meeting Tonight at Rison Gym

Body

The Cleveland County School District will hold the second in a series of three community meetings to provide information about the district’s request for a 6-mill tax increase to fund construction a new gym and other projects at the Rison School campus. The meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. tonight (Monday, Oct. 20) at the Rison Gym. The additional tax revenue would help pay for a new climate-controlled gym that is projected to cost about $12 million. A 6-mill tax increase would cost taxpayers about $120 more per year in taxes for every $100,000 in assessed value. Therefore, someone with $200,000 in assessed value would pay $240 more per year while someone with $300,000 would pay about $360 more per year. Voters in the Cleveland County School District will decide the fate of the millage on Nov. 18. Polls will be open at Kingsland, New Edinburg and Rison.
