CCSD Plans First Millage Meeting at New Edinburg

Body

Cleveland County School District Superintendent Davy King announced the first of three community meetings on the proposed 6-mill tax increase will be held Monday, Oct. 6, at 7 p.m. at the New Edinburg Community Center.

Voters will decide the measure in a Nov. 18 election. If approved, the millage would fund $13.165 million in bonds, with about $10.3 million for construction of a new gym and other campus improvements at Rison, and the rest to restructure existing debt.

The district could also receive $2.7 million in state partnership funds. The increase would raise annual taxes by about $20 per mill per $100,000 in assessed value, so 6-mill increase on a property assessed at $100,000 would cost about $120 more per year.
