Fordyce Edges Rison to Win Rivalry Game

The Fordyce Redbugs scored two touchdowns in the fourth quarter as they edged the Rison Wildcats, 20-14, in the 74th meeting between the long-time rivals at George Walker Field of Champions. Fordyce now leads the series 41-28-5. The Wildcats’ Jaquis Rauls scored on a 44-yard run in the first quarter to give Rison a 6-0. The ‘Bugs scored late in the second quarter to leave the teams tied, 6-6, at the half. Fordyce added a couple of touchdowns in the third quarter to go up 20-6 about midway through the third quarter before Rison quarterback Kyson Walker answered with for a 35-yard burst. Walker added the two-point to cut the Redbug led to 20-14. The ‘Cats came up with a couple of fourth-down stops near midfield during the remainder of the second half but were unable to capitalize on the field position. Rison fell to 2-4 in 8-3A conference play with the loss and 3-6 overall.
