Junior Wildcats Beat Fordyce, Finish Atop 8-3A

Body

The Rison Junior Wildcats capped their season with a dominant 30–6 win over Fordyce Thursday night, finishing 7–1 and earning a share of the 8-3A Conference Championship. Rison struck first on a four-yard keeper by quarterback Logan McGarity, then pulled away with 22 unanswered points after Fordyce’s lone score. Payne Prescott led the Wildcats with 137 rushing yards, a touchdown, and two two-point conversions. Deion Jones and Noah Wells also scored, with Wells returning an interception for a touchdown. The victory created a three-way tie for the conference title between Rison, Fordyce, and McGehee. While the junior high does not have a tie-breaker system like the varsity, if it was applied to the three co-champions Rison would have been declared the no. 1 seed.
