The Kingsland Fire Department recently told the city council that it urgently needs a dependable second fire truck, as it currently relies on only one primary vehicle.
Fire Chief Tevin Russell said a reliable backup would likely cost $30,000 to $40,000, but the city and department cannot afford one at this time.
Officials suggested fundraisers and pursuing grants to help cover costs, while annual dues from residents may also provide support. Russell emphasized that most calls are accident-related and delays could be critical if the main truck fails.
The council tabled the issue for further discussion.
