Rison Takes On Dumas for First 8-3A Road Test

    The Rison Wildcats (2-2, 1-0) will visit the Dumas Bobcats (2-2, 1-0) at 7 p.m. today (Friday, Oct. 3) in an important 8-3A conference game. 

    Rison is coming off a 40-35 win, fueled by 421 rushing yards, while Dumas secured a narrow 14-7 victory over a surprisingly strong Lake Village team.


    Rison Coach Chris Vereen is concerned about Dumas’s balanced spread offense and talented skill players, including receivers Marcus Kilgore and Dashawn Norah, and sophomore running back Kentz Brown (a Division I prospect). 

    Vereen's priority is fixing Rison's pass defense, which allowed 299 air yards last week. He stresses that the keys to victory are winning the turnover battle and limiting big plays.
