After a wild first half that saw the two teams knotted up 44-44 at the break, the Woodlawn Bears pulled away in the second half to get past the speedy Dermott Rams 76-56 Friday night at the Carl Jones Sports Complex. The Bears improved to 6-0 overall and 3-0 in South Conference play with the win. While the Bears struggled to control the Rams’ speed advantage, Dermott never could slow Woodlawn’s run game as the Bears rushed for 466 yards on the night. Woodlawn sophomore running back Griffin Manes led all rushers with 219 yards on 25 carries with four touchdowns while junior quarterback Ethan Saeler had 180 yards on the ground with four scores. Saeler also completed 5-of-6 pass attempts for 66 yards for 246 yards of total offense.
