About 60 people gathered at the Cleveland County Courthouse in Rison Saturday evening for a candlelight vigil in memory of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, who was assassinated Sept. 10 while speaking at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah.
Pastor Kevin Hornaday of Freedom Assembly encouraged those attending the vigil to live out the Christian values that Kirk espoused. The audience included several young people as well as parents and grandparents with their children and grandchildren.
Lee and Crystal Freeman of Rison organized the event. Lee said he felt compelled to do so after seeing other communities holding such vigils.
