Jim Houston of Rye Joins County Judges Race

Jim Houston, 68, of Rye, a former justice of the peace on the Faulkner County Quorum Court, has announced his intentions to run for Cleveland County in the Republican primary election. 

Houston settled in the Rye community after retiring from a career in operations management that included jobs in the U.S. and Asia. He served two terms on the Faulkner County Quorum Court representing the Mayflower area. 

Houston joins Steven McClellan of New Edinburg, Rosemary Sinclair of the Staves community and Rickey Spencer of Kingsland as candidates who have announced their intentions to seek the county judge’s seat in the Republican primary. 

The filing period for the 2026 primary election is from noon Monday, Nov. 3, to noon Wednesday, Nov. 12. The primary election will be held Tuesday, March 3, 2026.
