Cleveland County School Superintendent Davy King and the school board held their second community meeting Monday on the proposed 6-mill tax increase to fund a new Rison gym. The $12 million project would replace the aging 1971 facility and could include updates to Rison Elementary if state partnership funding—potentially $2.7 million—comes through. The new gym would seat about 1,200–1,300 people, include locker rooms and offices, and feature air conditioning and multi-use space. Voters will decide on the proposal Nov. 18, with early voting Nov. 12–14 and 17. The final community meeting is set for 6:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 27, at the Kingsland School auditorium.
