Filing Period for 2026 Election Opens Monday

The filing period for candidates wanting to run in the 2026 Democratic or Republican primary election begins at noon Monday, Nov. 3, and ends at noon Wednesday, Nov. 12. The filing period usually ends on Tuesday of the following week, but the deadline has been extended by one day to Wednesday this year since the regular deadline date falls on the Veterans Day holiday on Tuesday, Nov. 11.
The 2026 primary election will be held March 3, 2026, while the general election will be held Nov. 3, 2026.
