Woodlawn Opens Playoffs By Hosting Midland

Body

The undefeated Woodlawn Bears (8-0) will host the Midland Mustangs (2-4) at 7 p.m. tonight in the first round of the eight-man state playoffs at the Carl Jones Sports Complex. The South Conference champion Bears previously defeated Midland 42-32 in September after rallying from an 18-point halftime deficit. That loss sparked a four-game skid for the Mustangs, who have battled key injuries since. Woodlawn starting quarterback Ethan Saeler is expected to be held out due to an ankle injury, with senior Beau Watson stepping in behind center. Coach Doug Means expects a ground-heavy game as both teams rely on their running attacks and depth adjustments.
