While there were expected to be two contested races for seats on the nine-member Cleveland County School Board, those races evaporated as two candidates announced they were withdrawing from the race. Ron Workman of the Mount Carmel community, who was challenging incumbent Justice of the Peace Pat “Jo” Keegan-Potter for the District 4 position, announced Monday he was withdrawing. Meanwhile, Lori Rotton of the Pleasant Ridge community, who along with Kelly Slater of Randall had filed to run for District 5 seat, announced Wednesday that her job obligations will prevent her from running. Long-time District 5 JP Donnie Herring did not file for re-election.
