The Woodlawn Bears (9-0) will host their first-ever home semifinal playoff game at 7 p.m. tonight (Friday, Nov. 21) against the Rector Cougars (5-3) at the Carl Jones Sports Complex. The winner advances to the eight-man state championship Dec. 4 at War Memorial Stadium in Little Rock. Woodlawn quarterback Ethan Saeler is expected to play after an ankle injury last week. Rector is makes its third straight semifinal appearance after edging Brinkley, 28-20, in the first round last week. Both teams have similar speed and size, though Rector relies more on horizontal run plays. Woodlawn averages 57.1 points per game to Rector’s 32.5, while the Bears and Cougars allow 28.9 and 24.5, respectively.
