Big Second Quarter Lifts Jr. Owls Past Jr. Wildcats

RISON - The Rison Junior Wildcats suffered a 36-12 loss to the McGehee Junior Owls last Thursday in an 8-3A conference game at the George Walker Field of Champions. The Junior ‘Cats fell to 1-5 overall and 1-2 in conference play with the loss.

Junior Bears Hammer Hermitage, 54-6

WOODLAWN - Griffin Manes rushed for 116 yards and scored three touchdowns, and 7th grade quarterback Bentley Hoyt had 107 yards of total offense as the Woodlawn Junior Bears blew out the Hermitage Junior Hermits, 54-6, last Friday evening in a South Conference game at the Carl Jones Sports Complex.

Rison Wears Down Dumas For 38-6 Conference Win

RISON - Even after losing their starting quarterback to injury on just the tenth play of the game, underdog Dumas made things interesting for the first quarter of last Friday night’s 8-3A Conference battle at George Walker Field of Champions.
TOUGH RUNNING - Woodlawn senior fullback Ethan Oliver (center) fights for yardage against a big and fast Strong defense in first half action Friday night. Strong Uses Quick Start, Late Surge To Roll Past Bears

WOODLAWN - Going into last Friday’s South Conference match-up with top-ranked Strong, Woodlawn Coach Zach Meyer said his Bears had little room for error if they stood any chance against a Bulldog team that he says has the most talent of any team in eight-man football.

RISON - While it may be Week 6 of the 2024 high school football season, Rison Coach Chris Vereen isn’t too bashful to say that there will be playoff implications on the line this Friday night when his Wildcats travel to McGehee to face the Owls in a crucial 8-3A conference showdown.

Turnovers Bury Junior Bears

WOODLAWN - The Woodlawn Junior Bears had five turnovers - two of which were interceptions returned for touchdowns - as the bigger and faster Strong Bulldogs rolled to a 62-14 victory at the Carl Jones Sports Complex last Friday afternoon.
