Carmikle Calls Dumas 'Dangerous'

RISON - While Dumas is coming off a 1-9 season, Rison Coach Caleb Carmikle called the Bobcats a "dangerous" team that has the potential to knock off the Wildcats. Both teams will open the 2023 season at 8 p.m. Friday at George Walker Field of Champions. The game was originally scheduled for 7 p.m.

Bears' Black-White Scrimmage Friday

WOODLAWN - Having lost the bulk of his skill players on both offense and defense, Woodlawn Coach Zach Meyer hopes to find a few more answers for those vacancies as the Bears hold their Black-and-White scrimmage game at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the Carl Jones Sports Complex.

Rison Will Delay Kickoff to 8 p.m.

RISON - With a high temperature expected to reach above 100 degrees again on Friday, the Cleveland County School District announced Tuesday that it was delaying the start of the Rison Wildcats' first football game of the season to 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 25.

Carmikle To Evaluate Wildcats' Progress in Tuesday Scrimmage

RISON - Coach Caleb Carmikle will get to see exactly how well his Rison Wildcats have grasped his new offensive and defensive schemes when they travel to Monticello to meet the Class 4A Billies in a scrimmage game at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 15, at Billies Stadium.

Carmikle Seeks Consistency As Wildcats Begin Preseason

RISON - New Rison Coach Caleb Carmikle said he has seen some promise both offensively and defensively from his Wildcats over the summer, but there needs be a lot more consistency for them to take the next step to being a "good" football team.

Izard County went on to win the state title.
