Rison Elementary Retirement Party Set for Tuesday

RISON - Rison Elementary will host a retirement party Tuesday, May 20 at 1 p.m. in the school auditorium to honor six employees.Retiring are Thelma Brandon, Brenda Brown, Janet Brown, Paula Puckett, Billy Reed and Barbara Williams.

Black Cemetery Meeting, Service To Be Held May 25

The Black Cemetery at the Staves community will hold its annual meeting and Memorial Day service beginning at 10 a.m. Sunday, May 25, organizers have announced.The event will begin with the annual business meeting at 10 a.m. followed by the preaching service. Bro.

Regular Hours Resume at Solid Waste Transfer Station

RISON - Cleveland County Judge Jimmy Cummings has announced regular hours have resumed at the Cleveland County Solid Waste Transfer Station.The Transfer Station is open Monday, Wednesday and Saturday from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.; and Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 7:30 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Historical Society Meeting May 21

RISON - The Cleveland County Historical Society will meet Wednesday, May 21 at 1:30 p.m. at the Cleveland County Library for their quarterly business meeting.Anyone interested in the history of Cleveland County or their own genealogy is welcome to attend. 

Amateur Radio Demo This Saturday Near New Edinburg

NEW EDINBURG - The Cleveland County Hamsters will be setting up an Amateur Radio demonstration as part of “Parks on the Air” this Saturday, May 17, at Mark's Mill Battleground State Park  located at the Hwy. 8/Hwy 97 near New Edinburg.

RISON - Rison United Methodist Church will be hosting a food pantry from 9 to 10:30 a.m., Saturday, May 24.The church holds its food pantry the fourth Saturday of each month.
