New Edinburg ‘57 Class Gathering Oct. 26 at Bridge Creek

Submitted by Norma McCoy and John L. McClellanNEW EDINBURG - Just how blessed can the New Edinburg class of 1957 be? We had our first gathering October 19, 2013. Our 20th Gathering of classmates and friends is scheduled for Saturday,  Oct. 26.  As before, we’ll meet at the Bridge Creek Lodge.

Early Voting Begins This Monday, Oct. 21

RISON - Early voting for the 2024 general election will begin this Monday, Oct. 21, at the Hall-Morgan Veterans Building, 404 Sycamore Street across from the courthouse in Rison.The polls will be open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Oct.

McClellan Family Reunion Oct. 19

NEW EDINBURG - Saturday, Oct. 19, the annual McClellan Reunion at the New Edinburg Community Center will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.  Lunch is potluck at 12 noon.  Please bring your family, a potluck dish, any family pictures of years past, and enjoy seeing and visiting with each other.

Drive-Thru Fall Festival Oct. 26 in New Edinburg

NEW EDINBURG - Re-New-ing Edinburg will host its drive-thru fall festival event Saturday, Oct. 26  from 6-7:30 p.m. at the New Edinburg Community Center.

RISON - Walter Steitler and Mark Addison won first place in the Joe Cook Memorial Horseshoe Tournament held during the Rison in the Fall Festival hosted by Big Red’s Feed Trough.

Food Truck Friday Oct. 18 at Village Before Homecoming

RISON - October’s Food Truck Friday event will be held Friday, Oct. 18 at the Pioneer Village from 4 to 8 p.m.Participating food trucks are:Brothers Food Trailer with a variety of Chinese food specialties. Mike’s Rolled Ice Cream will offer hand-rolled ice cream flavors and toppings, plus lemonades.

RISON - RISON - Rison United Methodist Church will be hosting a food pantry from 9 to 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 26.  The church holds its food pantry the fourth Saturday of each month.
