Old Nursing Home To Be Razed Soon

RISON - Demolition of the old Cleveland County Hospital/ Nursing Home in Rison is expected to begin soon after the Cleveland County Quorum Court awarded a contract to raze the county-owned building during its regular monthly Monday night.

Woodlawn To Survey District's Equipment

RISON - Superintendent Dr. Kevin Hancock informed the Woodlawn School Board during its regular monthly meeting Monday night that Energy Systems Group (ESG) will conduct of "feasibility study" of the district's equipment to get a better idea of what improvements could be made in the future.

Kingsland Council To Meet Thursday

KINGSLAND - Mayor Sharon Crosby announced Tuesday that the regular monthly meeting of the Kingsland City Council has been moved to 6 p.m. this Thursday, Jan. 11, at Kingsland City Hall to allow the city to approve a resolution involving two street projects.

RISON - Nine years ago when Jennifer Via founded and organized the Historic Hwy. 35 Junk Hunt which consisted of a series of rummage sales along a 120-mile route that extended from Benton to Dermott, she had no idea how much it would grow. Via followed the hunt with the Hwy.

CCSB Moves Jan. Meeting to Jan. 16

RISON - The Cleveland County School Board noted during its December meeting that the January board meeting has been moved to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 16, at the administration building in Rison. The board usually meets the second Monday of each month.

Rison City Council To Meet Tuesday

RISON - The January meeting of the Rison City Council has been moved to 6 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 9, at Rison City Hall, Mayor Charles Roberts has announced. Roberts said he decided to postpone it a week due to the regular meeting date's proximity to the New Year's Day holiday.
