Poll Workers Needed For 2024 Elections

RISON - The Cleveland County Election Commission is hiring poll workers for the upcoming 2024 elections. Potential workers earn $50 for on-the-job training, plus $11 per hour during early voting and election day. Election dates are Feb. 19March 5 and Oct. 21-Nov. 5.

Quorum Court Will Be Meeting Jan. 8

RISON - The Cleveland County Quorum Court voted earlier this month to move its January meeting to 6 p.m. Monday, Jan. 8, at the Hall-Morgan Veterans Building in Rison. The quorum court usually meets the first Monday of each month.

Local Offices Closed Monday, Tuesday

RISON - State and county government offices will be closed both Monday and Tuesday, Dec. 25-26, in observance of the Christmas holiday, while those offices will be closed only on Monday, Jan. 1, for the New Year’s Day holiday.

CCSB Approves Bid for Cafeteria

RISON - The Cleveland County School Board approved a bid of $865,000 from Brody Richardson Construction of Sheridan to build an addition to the Rison School cafeteria that will provide space for more seating as well as a third serving line.

Herald Will Not Publish Newspaper Next Week

RISON - The Cleveland County Herald will not be publishing a newspaper next Wednesday, Dec. 27, due to the newspaper taking its annual Christmas break next week, editor/publisher Britt Talent has announced. The Herald office will be closed from noon Friday, Dec. 22, through Monday, Jan. 1, 2024.
