Local Students Graduate From Camden’s SAU Tech

EAST CAMDEN - SAU Tech celebrated its graduates with its annual commencement ceremonies on May 6, 2023. The College awarded 384 credentials to students from Arkansas, Louisiana, Texas, Mississippi, and other states. Many students earned more than one credential in their °eld of study.

WOODWORKING AT THE PIONEER VILLAGE - Last week, the Cleveland County Extension Service hosted another wood workshop at Rison’s Pioneer Village. The Extension Agents would like to thank to Mr. Keith Gresham for instructing, and Billy and Marty Bowlin for helping. Thanks also to Pioneer Village for use of their facilities and to Hixson Lumber Company for donating the wood. Five students worked hard and had fun doing it. Pictured are Donna Best, Debbie James, Kay Richardson and Sarah Payton.

Shumake Retires from Woodlawn School District

WOODLAWN - Janice Shumake has announced her retirement after 30 years of service in education. She completed 20 years of service at Woodlawn School District where she currently serves as a facilitator for Virtual Arkansas distance learning courses.

CCSB Approves Classified Pay Raise

RISON - The Cleveland County School Board approved giving classified staff a 50 cent per hour pay raise and approved hiring former Rison High School teacher Angie Hudson as the new Rison Elementary principal during a special meeting held last Thursday at the administration building in Rison.
