KINGSLAND - Updates on the installation of a new booster pump to improve water pressure and construction plans for the new Dollar General store were brought up during the Kingsland City Council's regular monthly meeting held last Thursday, Feb. 23, at Kingsland City Hall.

RISON - Judy Johnson of the Woodlawn community reported the first sighting of a purple martin in Cleveland County on Tuesday morning, Feb. 28. The sighting of the first purple martins is considered a sign that spring is just around the corner.

RISON - Organizers for the Cleveland County Cutters & Strutters Chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation (NWTF) are already discussing the possibility of having to find a new home for its Jakes Day next year as Saturday's youth event drew a record-breaking crowd.

Old Kingsland Post Office Featured in Capitol Exhibit

LITTLE ROCK - The current Post Office Exhibit located on the main floor of the Capitol Building includes photos of Johnny Cash at the Old Kingsland Post Office along with his friend, Johnny Horton, in May 1959 while they were visiting the area on a fishing trip.
