Homesteading Conference Set For Saturday at Rison

RISON - Gardening, herbal folk remedies, tanning animal hides, hydroponics and worm farming are among the topics that will be presented at the Arkansas Homesteading Conference to be held this Saturday, March 25, at the Cleveland County Fairgrounds in Rison. Gates open at 8:30 a.m.

Rison Student Establishing Her Own Farm at 17

RISON - Studies show that about 90 percent of college students change their major once they get to school. For Alaina Reeves, a junior at Rison High School, that probably won't be the case. In fact, Alaina said she has no plans to go to college full-time.

Pesticide Training Tuesday at Rison

RISON - The Cleveland County Cooperative Extension Service will be conducting a pesticide applicator training session Tuesday, March 21 at the Veterans Building beginning at 6 p.m. Each participant will be charged a $20 training fee which will go towards training materials.

CCSB Approves New Admin Job For Various Duties

RISON - The Cleveland County School Board approved Superintendent Craig Dupuy's recommendation Monday night to create a new position for an athletics, transportation and maintenance director. The motion was only to create the position, and did not include anyone to fill the job.

Hancock Discusses New Law's Impact on WSD

WOODLAWN - Superintendent Dr. Kevin Hancock gave the Woodlawn School Board an overview of what impact Gov. Sarah Sanders' education plan could have on the district during a busy regular monthly meeting Monday night inside the Woodlawn School cafetorium.
