KINGSLAND - Seven of the 11 living members of the Kingsland High School Class of 1961 attended the Kingsland All-School Reunion held this past Saturday at the Kingsland School auditorium.

RISON - Ashley Thompson owner of Sweet T Farms was a guest speaker at the County Cultivators Master Gardener meeting. She shared raising loofas and harvesting the seeds. She also demonstrated how to make a seed pot starter out of newspaper.

WOODLAWN - 6th Grade students at Woodlawn Elementary learned about composting with a 4-H lesson from Cleveland County Extension Agents Austin Compton and David West. “Thank you to our County Cultivators for helping us revive the Woodlawn Garden,” said Compton.

SPRING AROUND THE CORNER? - After a hard winter storm in January that left sleet on the ground for about two weeks, the daffodils planted on the lawn at the Cleveland County Courthouse in Rison have started to emerge this week signaling that spring may not be too far away.

Why Knots Club Presents Quilts to Sheriff

RISON - The 'Why Knots' Extension Homemakers Club presented six comfort quilts to Sheriff Jack Rodgers of the Cleveland County Sheriff's Department, Monday January 19.
CLEVELAND COUNTY SPELLING BEE WINNERS - Rison Schools recently hosted the Cleveland County Spelling Bee. Pictured are: George Lodua, 1st place; Ester Sung, 2nd place; Victor Hu, 3rd place. George Lodua will advance to the state competition on March 7 at The Vines Center in Little Rock. CCSD appreciates FBT Bank for sponsoring our county competition.

Brush Fire at Kingsland

KINGSLAND - The Kingsland Volunteer Fire Department responded to this brush fire that got out of control Sunday afternoon near the corner of First and Oak Streets in Kingsland. Mayor Karen Wiscaver said the fire department managed to keep it from spreading.
