Woodlawn Heads to Midland Friday

WOODLAWN - The Woodlawn Bears will make the 137mile trip to southern Independence County this Friday night to face the 1-0 Midland Mustangs in a non-conference match-up at Pleasant Plains.The junior high teams are scheduled to play at 5 p.m. followed by the varsity teams at 7 p.m.
MAN ON A MISSION - Woodlawn senior running back Garrett Weather ford (no. 3) breaks free for another nice gain during second half action of the Bears' 50-18 win over Rose Bud. Weatherford averaged 14 yards per carried as he finished with 228 yards rushing and scored seven touchdowns. He scored on touchdown runs of 28, 37 and 35 yards in the third quarter.

8-3A Conference To Increase Price For Football Tickets

RISON -Ticket prices for all 83A conference football games will be $7 following a recent vote of the conference members, Cleveland County Superintendent Davy King has announced. Rison High School is a member of the 8-3A conference.As a result of the vote, ticket prices will go from $5 to $7.

Vereen Satisfied With Defense After Scrimmage Loss to Billies

RISON - Rison Coach Chris Vereen came away pleased overall with his defense in a 7-2 scrimmage loss to the Class 4A Monticello Billies Tuesday night at George Walker Field of Champions, but he said the Wildcat offense still has a lot of polishing up to do.

RISON - The Rison Wildcats are predicted to finish fifth in the 8-3A conference while the Woodlawn Bears are projected to finish second in the eight-man South Conference according to the coaches' poll in the 2024 edition of Hooten's Arkansas Football magazine.
