Bears Throttle Devils, 40-0; Game Ends Before Halftime

WOODLAWN - For the second consecutive week, the Woodlawn Bears saw their opponent decide to end the game before halftime as the Augusta Red Devils began lining up for the post-game sportsmanship handshake with 3:32 left in the second quarter and the Bears up 40-0.

Bears Open League Play With Top-Ranked Strong

WOODLAWN - If the preseason coaches poll is any indication, the eight-man South Conference championship could be decided this Friday night when the top-ranked Strong Bulldogs visit the Woodlawn Bears.The junior high teams will play at 5 p.m. followed by the varsity teams at 7 p.m.

Jr. Bears Rush Pass Augusta, 44-28

WOODLAWN - Griffin Manes ran for 225 yards and scored three touchdowns as the Woodlawn Junior Bears moved to 2-1 with a 44-28 non-conference victory over the Augusta Junior Red Devils last Friday at the Carl Jones Sports Complex.

Woodlawn Takes Down Guy-Perkins Early in 58-0 Win

WOODLAWN - What little hope the Guy-Perkins Thunderbirds had of perhaps putting up a good fight against the Woodlawn Bears in their first season of football lasted about 13 seconds this past Friday night at the Carl Jones Sports Complex.
WALKER COMING OFF BIG GAME - Rison sophomore quarterback Kyson Walker (right) is coming off one of his best performances of the season last week when he rushed for 135 yards on just four carries and had a 68-yard touchdown run against the Stuttgart Junior Varsity. Wildcat Coach Chris Vereen said Walker and the rest of the offense have picked up his flexbone offense which will allow him to add a few wrinkles to the playbook moving forward.

RISON - Rison is off to a 3-0 start under new Head Coach Chris Vereen, but the Wildcat mentor said the true season begins this Friday night when the ‘Cats make the 112-mile trip to Palestine-Wheatley to face the Patriots in the 8-3A conference opener. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
