Rison Hosts Team Camp on Thursday

RISON - The Rison Wildcats will be hosting a team camp with Class 4A Lonoke, Clas 4A DeWitt and Class 3A Magnet Cove beginning at 9 a.m. Thursday, June 22, at George Walker Field of Champions, Coach Caleb Carmikle has announced.
PICK MACHINE - Woodlawn junior defensive back Ethan Adair goes up to pull in one of six interceptions he made during Tuesday's 5-on-5 camp at the Carl Jones Sports Complex. Woodlawn had eight picks for the day with Aidan Johnson and Ethan Oliver making the other two.

Meyer Pleased With Both Sides of Ball in First Camp

WOODLAWN - Coach Zach Meyer said he saw some positives both offensively and defensively Tuesday from the Woodlawn Bears' first camp of the summer. Woodlawn hosted Rose Bud and Parkers Chapel Tuesday for a 5-on-5 camp at the Carl Jones Sports Complex Tuesday morning.

Bishop, Howard, Terry Earn All-State

LITTLE ROCK - Jase Bishop and Austin Howard of the Woodlawn Bears, and Jud Terry of the Rison Wildcats were named to the Class 2A All-State Baseball Team released last week by the Arkansas Activities Association (AAA). All three players are seniors.

McWhorter Earns All-State

RISON - Lillie Faye McWhorter, a sophomore pitcher and infielder for the Woodlawn Lady Bears, was named to the 2023 Class 2A All-State Softball Team, according to the Arkansas Activities Association (AAA).

WOODLAWN - Graduation was not kind to Woodlawn Coach Zach Meyer this year but he feels his Bears may have the parts on the way to reload rather quickly.
2023 CLASS 2A STATE CHAMPIONS - Members of the 2023 Class 2A State Champion Woodlawn Bears baseball team are Tristan Bates, Jase Bishop, Dylan Butler, Gage Boykin, Grant Cowart, Mason Edmonds, Tyler French, Tate Hall, Austin Howard, Luke Jacks, Aidan Johnson, Brayden Jones, Dillon Lunsford, Kane Mills, Ethan Oliver, Jaxson Raney, Ryan Rutledge, Owen Stover, Garrett Weatherford and Jayden Wilmoth. Coaches include Head Coach Tommy Richardson and Assistant Coaches Stephen Boyd, Alan Neill and Brian Miller.

CONWAY - The Woodlawn Bears' 3-2 win over the Palestine-Wheatley Patriots in the Class 2A state championship game May 19 gave Woodlawn its ninth state baseball championship, moving it into a tie with Junction City for the secondmost state baseball titles among all high schools in Arkansas.
