2023 CLASS 2A STATE CHAMPIONS - Members of the 2023 Class 2A State Champion Woodlawn Bears baseball team are Tristan Bates, Jase Bishop, Dylan Butler, Gage Boykin, Grant Cowart, Mason Edmonds, Tyler French, Tate Hall, Austin Howard, Luke Jacks, Aidan Johnson, Brayden Jones, Dillon Lunsford, Kane Mills, Ethan Oliver, Jaxson Raney, Ryan Rutledge, Owen Stover, Garrett Weatherford and Jayden Wilmoth. Coaches include Head Coach Tommy Richardson and Assistant Coaches Stephen Boyd, Alan Neill and Brian Miller.

STOVER NAMED STATE CHAMPIONSHIP GAME MVP - Woodlawn relief pitcher Owen Stover (right) receives the Class 2A State Championship Game Most Valuable Player trophy from Cleveland County Farm Bureau agent Wilton Johnston after Friday night's game. Stover managed to preserve the Bears' lead after going in with bases loaded and one out in the top of the fifth inning. While he was called for a balk that did score a run for Palestine-Wheatley, Stover shutout the Patriots the rest of the way.

Richardson has guided Woodlawn to 12 appearances in the state championship game, winning nine of those.

BIG TOURNAMENT FOR BRAYDEN JONES - Woodlawn junior shortstop Brayden Jones slides into home for one of two runs he scored Saturday afternoon in the Bears' 10-0 win over Center Ridge in the Class 2A semifinal game at Greenland High School. Jones was a spark plug for Woodlawn throughout the Class 2A State Tournament, going 5-for-9 at the plate over the three games with seven RBIs.
