Crosby To Remain Mayor To Avoid Cost of Election

KINGSLAND - Mayor Sharon Crosby has rescinded the letter of resignation she submitted during last Thursday's Kingsland City Council meeting after learning that the city would have to pay for a special election to replace her, something she said she believes the city cannot afford to do.
EASTER BUNNY VISITS COMMUNITY EGG HUNT AT RISON - Rison Shine C ommunity Development and the Pioneer Village co-hosted the Cleveland County Eggstravaganza Saturday at the historic village in Rison. The egg hunt featured around 2,000 eggs and more than 60 kids scouring the grounds looking for candy and prize-filled eggs. The event also included a pancake breakfast with the bunny that served as a fundraiser for the two groups.

Sheriff Opposing Beer, Wine Permits At Kingsland Store

KINGSLAND - Sheriff Jack Rodgers was at both the Cleveland County Quorum Court and Kingsland City Council meetings over the past week asking each body to oppose a request by the Dollar General store at Kingsland to sell alcoholic beverages there.

Fairgrounds Hosting First Sunday Lunch

RISON - The Cleveland County Fair Association will host its First Sunday Lunch fundraiser, this Sunday, April 7, at the County Fairgrounds.The lunch will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.This month's menu includes outback chicken, roasted potatoes, green beans, salads, bread, tea and dessert.

Woodlawn Spanish Program Holding Bake Sale, Auction

WOODLAWN - The Woodlawn Spanish program is sponsoring its second annual bake sale and auction Thursday, March 28. There will be an on-site silent auction from 10 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. in the open classroom of the high school. An online auction will be posted as well at whsbears.org.

Bethel #1 To Host Breakfast, Easter Service This Sunday

RISON - Bethel #1 Missionary Baptist Church, 2230 Hwy. 35 North near Rison, will be having an Easter breakfast fellowship beginning at 7 a.m. Sunday in the Family Life Center followed by the Easter Service beginning at 8 a.m. Bethel #1 is located on Hwy. 35 North about 1.5 miles west of the Hwy.
